Lau Kar-leung was a Hong Kong-based Chinese actor, filmmaker, choreographer, and martial artist born on July 28, 1934. He is best known for his work in the 1970s and 1980s at Shaw Brothers Studio, particularly films starring Gordon Liu. Considered one of the most influential figures in martial arts cinema, Lau was part of a lineage of Hung Ga practitioners originating from Wong Fei-hung, and his brother Kar-wing was also a prominent actor and filmmaker.
