Samuel Fuller

Biography

Samuel Michael Fuller was an American screenwriter, novelist, film director, journalist, and actor known for low-budget genre movies with controversial themes. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, he began working as a newspaper copyboy at age 12 and became a crime reporter by 17. Fuller's wartime experiences influenced his films, including The Big Red One (1980), which earned him several awards, including the Purple Heart.
