Victor Francen was a Belgian-born actor with a long career in French cinema and Hollywood, making his debut in 1941's Hold Back the Dawn. He established himself as a leading man in French films after appearing in Abel Gance's La Fin du monde (1931) and later became a prolific figure in American cinema throughout the 1940s, starring in notable roles such as Passage to Marseille (1944) and The Mask of Dimitrios (1944).
