Hold Back the Dawn

Georges Iscovescu (Charles Boyer), a Romanian gigolo, marries American teacher Emmy Brown in Mexico to gain entry into the US, but finds himself falling in love with her instead of fulfilling his original plan to desert her and join his partner Anita. After sweeping Emmy off her feet, Georges' jealousy and love for her complicate his plans, leading to a series of unexpected events that threaten to upend his immigration scheme.
