George Barbier

Biography

George W. Barbier was a stage and film actor born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 19, 1864, who began his career in light opera and later appeared in Broadway productions, including The Hunchback of Notre Dame and The Front Page. He signed with Paramount Pictures in 1929 and went on to appear in 88 films, often playing kind-hearted businessmen or patriarchs in supporting roles.
