Tom Tryon was a versatile American actor and novelist born on January 14, 1926, in Hartford, Connecticut. He was best known for his roles in the war films "The Longest Day" (1962) and "In Harm's Way" (1965), starring alongside John Wayne, as well as the Walt Disney television character Texas John Slaughter. Tryon later transitioned to writing successful science fiction, horror, and mystery novels under the pen name Thomas Tryon.
