The Story of Ruth

In "The Story of Ruth," 19-year-old Elana Eden stars as Ruth, a Moabite priestess trained in the service of Chemosh who falls in love with Mahlon (Tom Tryon), a Judean artisan, and ultimately marries Boaz (Stuart Whitman), a close kinsman of Elimelech's family. After her husband Mahlon dies, Naomi (Peggy Wood) suggests Ruth join her on a journey to Bethlehem, where Ruth becomes embroiled in Moabite-Judean tensions and eventually wins the favor of Boaz with her bravery. When Moabite agents claim Ruth worshipped Chemosh, Boaz defends her, and she is acquitted, leading to her marriage to Boaz and a promising future as the progenitor of a great king and prophet.
