Biography

Stuart Whitman was a talented American actor born on February 1, 1928, in San Francisco and raised in New York before moving to Los Angeles at age 12. He began his acting career after being discharged from the US Army Corps of Engineers in 1948, initially landing bit parts in films such as When Worlds Collide (1951) and The Man from the Alamo (1952). Whitman gained recognition for leading roles in John Wayne's western film The Comancheros (1961) and the aerial epic Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines (1965).
