Ann Blyth was a talented American actress and singer who began her career in radio before transitioning to Broadway's Watch on the Rhine (1941–42) and eventually film, making her mark with breakout roles in Mildred Pierce (1945) as Veda Pierce and Marsinah in Kismet (1955). Her performance in Mildred Pierce earned a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She continued to work in film throughout the 1940s and 1950s, appearing in notable productions such as The Great Caruso (1951) and The King's Thief (1955).
