Jean Pierre Hersholt was a Danish-American actor born on July 12, 1886, in Copenhagen, Denmark. He gained fame for his 17-year starring role as Dr. Christian on the CBS radio series from 1937-1954, and co-starred with Shirley Temple in the film Heidi (1937). With over 140 film credits to his name, he also directed four films. Hersholt's versatility earned him notable roles in films like Mark of the Vampire (1935) and Dinner at Eight (1933).
