Robert "Bob" Francis Hastings was a prolific American character actor, best known for his portrayal of Lt. Elroy Carpenter on the TV series McHale's Navy and voicing Commissioner James Gordon in several animated films, including Batman: Mask of the Phantasm and The Munsters' Revenge. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Hastings began his career in radio before transitioning to television and film, serving as a navigator in World War II and later landing roles in early science-fiction series. He passed away on June 30, 2014, at the age of 89.
