Biography

Jon Pertwee was a versatile English actor born into a theatrical family, known for his roles as the Third Doctor in Doctor Who (1970–1974, 1983) and Worzel Gummidge, a title character he played from 1979 to 1981 and again in the Australian series Worzel Gummidge Down Under. He also made a name for himself in comedy, performing with his father Roland's plays in repertory theatre and later in radio and films. Pertwee served in the Royal Navy during WWII before transitioning to television and film. His prolific career spanned various genres, cementing his place as a beloved British entertainment figure.
