Akira Terao is a Japanese musician and actor born on May 18, 1947, in Yokohama, Japan. He is the son of actor and film director Jūkichi Uno and has received both the Japan Record Award and the Japan Academy Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role. Notable in his acting career are roles in Kei Kumai's The Sands of Kurobe (1968), Akira Kurosawa's Ran (1985) and Dreams (1990), and Takashi Koizumi's After the Rain (2001).
