Liz Smith was a talented English character actress, best known for her iconic roles in BBC sitcoms such as Annie Brandon in I Didn't Know You Cared and Letitia Cropley in The Vicar of Dibley. She won the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her portrayal of Mother in the film A Private Function (1984). Smith's notable performances also included roles in 2point4 Children, The Royle Family, and Lark Rise to Candleford.
