Leslie William Nielsen was a Canadian-American actor and comedian, best known for his comedic roles in films like Airplane! (1980) and The Naked Gun series (1988–1994). He made his film debut in 1956 with supporting roles in dramas and westerns, but gained recognition for his deadpan comedy style. Nielsen's dry wit and ability to play absurd characters earned him a reputation as the "Olivier of spoofs."
