The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear follows Lt. Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen) as he investigates the kidnapping of Dr. Albert S. Meinheimer (Richard Griffiths), a scientist who plans to publish a report advocating for renewable energy. Frank teams up with his colleagues Ed Hocken (George Kennedy) and Nordberg (O. J. Simpson) to thwart the plans of Quentin Hapsburg (Robert Goulet), a villainous executive who intends to suppress the technology. Along the way, Frank's jealousy and romance with Jane Spencer (Priscilla Presley) add to the chaos, leading to a series of wacky misadventures and ultimately, a showdown at a press club dinner.
