Nikita Mikhalkov is a renowned Russian filmmaker and actor born in Moscow on October 21, 1945. He won the Golden Lion at Venice Film Festival for his film Close to Eden and took home the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film for Burnt by the Sun. A three-time laureate of Russia's State Prize, Mikhalkov is also a Full Cavalier of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland".
