Roscoe Arbuckle
Biography
Roscoe Arbuckle was a pioneering American silent film actor, comedian, director, and screenwriter, known for his work at Keystone Studios with Mabel Normand and Harold Lloyd. He mentored Charlie Chaplin, Monty Banks, and Bob Hope, and brought vaudeville star Buster Keaton into the movie business. Despite being one of Hollywood's highest-paid actors in the 1910s, a scandal surrounding the rape and manslaughter of Virginia Rappe led to his downfall and lasting career impact.
