Biography

John Shrapnel was born in Birmingham, Warwickshire, to journalist/author Norman Shrapnel and Mary Lillian Myfanwy (née Edwards). A stage actor with the Royal Shakespeare Company and National Theatre, he appeared as Sir Oliver Surface in The School for Scandal at the Barbican Centre in 2011. He has also starred in numerous film and television roles, including Elizabeth R, Inspector Morse, and Gladiator.
