Francis de Wolff

Biography

Baron Francis-Marie Arist de Wolff was an English character actor born in Essex on January 7, 1913, to a Russian-born nobleman father and a British mother. He studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts before beginning his career in film, making early appearances in Flame in the Heather (1935) and Fire Over England (1937). Wolff is perhaps best known for his villainous roles in Hammer Films horror movies throughout the 1950s and 1960s.
