Stan Laurel as Stan is still patrolling the trenches in France, unaware that World War I has ended, when he shoots down a French aviator. Oliver Hardy as Ollie invites Stan to visit him back in the States, and upon seeing his old chum sitting in a wheelchair, Ollie assumes Stan is helpless due to an injury. As they embark on a journey together, they encounter various obstacles, including domestic chaos with Ollie's wife, Mrs. Hardy, and their neighbor, Mrs. Gilbert, leading to a frenzied pursuit involving Mr. Gilbert and a shotgun-wielding chase.
