Man of La Mancha

In 16th-century Spain, poet and playwright Miguel de Cervantes (Peter O'Toole) is arrested by the Spanish Inquisition along with his manservant, Sancho Panza (James Coco). To save his life and a precious manuscript, Cervantes stages a mock trial in which he tells the story of Don Quixote, a delusional elderly gentleman who sets out on chivalrous adventures. Sophia Loren stars as Aldonza, a world-weary serving wench who becomes the object of Don Quixote's affections and serves as a foil to his fantastical tales.
