Biography

Rosalie Sylvia Crutchley was a British actress trained at the Royal Academy of Music. She had a long and successful career in theatre and films, making her stage debut in 1932, and began working on screen in 1947. Notable roles include Madame Defarge in adaptations of A Tale of Two Cities, Catherine Parr in The Six Wives of Henry VIII, and appearances in classic productions such as Romeo and Juliet and King Lear.
