The Count

Charlie Chaplin stars as the tailor's apprentice in this 1916 comedy short film, which begins when he accidentally burns Count Broko's (Leo White) clothes while ironing them and is subsequently fired from his job. The tailor, played by Eric Campbell, discovers a note explaining that the count cannot attend a party and dresses up like one to take his place at the mansion where the dance is being celebrated, leading to a series of hilarious misunderstandings with the apprentice, who also attends in disguise as the count. Alongside Edna Purviance as Miss Moneybags, Chaplin's character gets caught up in a chaotic scene where he must navigate multiple suitors and outwit the real Count, played by Leo White, to emerge victorious.
