Edna Purviance was an American actress of the silent film era, born on October 21, 1895, in Paradise Valley, Nevada. She became the leading lady in many Charlie Chaplin films over a span of eight years, appearing in over thirty films with him. Her notable roles include Marie St. Clair in "A Woman of Paris: A Drama of Fate" and The Girl in "The Kid."
