Charlie Chaplin stars in a hilarious parody of Cecil B. DeMille's 1915 film "Carmen", playing Darn Hosiery, a goofy officer who gets seduced by a cunning gypsy (Edna Purviance) sent to convince him to allow smuggling runs through the city of Sevilla. With plenty of slapstick humor and physical comedy, Chaplin's version is a lighthearted spoof of the original, featuring a subplot involving a bumbling gypsy character played by Ben Turpin in later reissues.
