In a dystopian future, the government maintains control through a totalitarian regime that outlaws literature, employing firemen to perform book burnings. Fireman Montag begins to question the morality of his vocation after meeting a young school teacher named Clarisse who sparks curiosity about the books he once burned. As Montag delves deeper into literature, conflict escalates with his wife and society at large, ultimately leading him to join a group of rebels known as "the book people" who memorize and preserve forbidden texts.
