The Other Side of Hope

In Helsinki, Waldemar, a traveling shirt salesman (Sakari Kuosmanen), meets Khaled, a Syrian refugee who has recently arrived in Finland, and befriends him after he is hiding near his restaurant. Waldemar gives Khaled refuge, hires him, and helps him get new papers. Meanwhile, Waldemar's wife's husband, Wikström (Kuosmanen again), and his wife are dealing with their own struggles. As Khaled navigates the complexities of life in Finland, he eventually reunites with his sister Miriam (Niroz Haji) who was lost during their journey through the Balkans for refuge from the Syrian Civil War.
