Sound of the Mountain

In "Sound of the Mountain" (1954), Setsuko Hara plays Ogata Kikuko, a bride whose marriage to her husband Shingo (Sō Yamamura) crumbles due to his infidelity and coldness. As Shingo's affection grows towards Kikuko, he tries to become a source of comfort for her, but their relationships with other family members, particularly Shuichi's mistress Kinu (Rieko Sumi), complicate the situation. Kikuko eventually decides to divorce her husband, seeking independence and a chance at a new life.
