Biography

Yōko Sugi was a Japanese actress who rose to prominence in the 1950s, appearing in notable films by Mikio Naruse and Kinuyo Tanaka. She debuted in Tadashi Imai's 1949 Aoi Sanmyaku and went on to star in several coming-of-age films, before retiring from acting. After moving to the US with her husband, Sugi worked as a public relations manager and served as a Japanese Cultural Envoy.
