The film "Tex" (1982) follows two teenage brothers, Tex and Mason McCormick, as they struggle to make it on their own after their mother's death and their father's departure from their Oklahoma home. The 15-year-old Tex gets mad at his 17-year-old brother Mason for selling his beloved horse, Rowdy, leading to a series of scrapes. When their "Pop" (Bill McKinney) comes home, he reveals that he is not the real father, but Tex ultimately realizes it's time to start growing up and learn to rely on those who love him, including Mason and Pop.
