Airplane!

Ex-fighter pilot Ted Striker, a traumatized war veteran with a pathological fear of flying, is forced to take over the controls of an airliner when the flight crew succumbs to food poisoning. His ex-girlfriend, Elaine Dickinson, a flight attendant, now plays a crucial role in helping him navigate the crisis. With the help of the air traffic controller, Steve McCroskey, and his former commanding officer, Rex Kramer, Ted must land the plane safely in Chicago despite the challenges posed by the plane's malfunctioning systems and nosy journalists.
