The Iceman Cometh

The Iceman Cometh (1973) is a drama film directed by John Frankenheimer, based on the 1946 play by Eugene O'Neill. The film takes place in 1912 inside a dive bar called The Last Chance Saloon, where destitute patrons eagerly await the annual arrival of Hickey, who brings free drinks and stories of his travels. Lee Marvin stars as Theodore 'Hickey' Hickman, a traveling salesman who preaches temperance and urges the patrons to give up hopeless dreams and face reality, but ultimately reveals his own dark secrets.
