Waga seishun ni kuinashi is a 1946 Japanese film written and directed by Akira Kurosawa, based on the 1933 Takigawa incident. The film follows Yukie Yagihara, played by Setsuko Hara, as she navigates love, political repression, and wartime upheaval in pre- and post-WWII Japan. After her anti-fascist professor father, Professor Yagihara, is dismissed, Yukie must forge her own path, influenced by her relationships with two men: Ryukichi Noge, a fiery and radical leftist, and Itokawa, a moderate and prosecutor. As Yukie becomes embroiled in Noge's illegal activities, she must confront the consequences of her choices and ultimately find a way to redeem her former lover and his family.
