Great Day in the Morning

In 1861, Owen Pentecost, a man from North Carolina, arrives in Denver, Colorado Territory, on a whim. He wins a poker game with Jumbo Means, who bet his estate on the last hand, and gains ownership of a hotel. Owen becomes embroiled in a love triangle with two women, Ann Merry Alaine and Boston Grant, who works at the hotel. As the Civil War approaches, Owen must navigate the town's divisions and his own loyalties, leading to a gun battle with Union soldiers.
