Johnny Got His Gun

A young American soldier, rendered in pseudocoma from an artillery shell from WWI, recalls his life leading up to that point. Timothy Bottoms stars as Joe Bonham, a young soldier who awakens in a hospital bed after being hit by the shell, unable to speak or move due to severe injuries. Joe's reality is contrasted with his fantasies and memories, presented in color and black-and-white respectively. As he drifts between these states, Joe remembers his life with his Christian Science family and his girlfriend Kareen, and eventually communicates with his doctors using Morse code.
