J'ai tué ma mère

Hubert, a 16-year-old Québécois, navigates a complicated relationship with his single mother, Chantale, who divorced his father when Hubert was young. As Hubert struggles with his mother's overbearing nature and his own coming-of-age, he begins an argument with her about her applying makeup while driving, which escalates into a series of events that lead to him lying to his teacher about his mother's death. With the help of his boyfriend Antonin, Hubert runs away from home, but ultimately returns to find his mother waiting for him by the Saint Lawrence river, where he had grown up.
