PT 109

Cliff Robertson stars as Lt. John F. Kennedy, a young officer in the U.S. Navy, as he commands Motor Torpedo Boat PT-109 in the Pacific theater of World War II. Kennedy and his crew are sent on an emergency mission to evacuate paramarines pinned down on a distant beach, but their boat is rammed and sliced in half by a Japanese destroyer, leaving Kennedy and his survivors to make their way to a nearby island, find food and shelter, and signal for rescue. After several fruitless days, Kennedy's efforts are rewarded when a reconnaissance plane spots the abandoned wreckage and a U.S. vessel arrives to rescue the survivors.
