Victor Mature stars as Tumak, a young caveman who must navigate the challenges of both his own tribe and a new, peaceful community, while also confronting his complicated past and struggling to find his place. As Tumak tries to unite the warring Rock Tribe and the Shell Tribe, he finds love and acceptance with Loana (Carole Landis), daughter of the Shell Tribe chief, but ultimately must face his own destiny when a nearby volcano threatens to destroy both tribes.
