Down in the Delta

Down in the Delta is a 1998 American drama film directed by Maya Angelou and starring Alfre Woodard, Al Freeman Jr., Esther Rolle, Loretta Devine, and Wesley Snipes. A single mother, Loretta Sinclair, is sent to her ancestral home in the Mississippi Delta with her children to live with her uncle and aunt for the summer. There, she and her family find strength in their rural roots and start to rebuild their lives, including Loretta's daughter Tracy, who says her first words.
