Manji

In the 1983 Japanese melodrama "Manji", Sonoko (Haruna Takase) struggles with kleptomania, her life disrupted by a chance encounter with young and beautiful Mitsuko (Kanako Higuchi), who becomes the object of her desires. The two women engage in a tumultuous and passionate love affair, complicated by Sonoko's husband, Takeshi (Yoshio Harada), who becomes increasingly suspicious and ultimately meets a tragic end. As the relationships between the three characters become increasingly entangled, the film builds towards a devastating conclusion.
