The Angel Levine

Zero Mostel plays Morris Mishkin, an elderly Jewish tailor in New York City, who becomes increasingly desperate as his wife Fanny (Ida Kamińska) suffers from heart disease. A black man named Alexander Levine (Harry Belafonte), claiming to be his guardian angel, appears and promises to perform a miracle within 24 hours to be promoted to accepted status as an angel. Mishkin is initially skeptical, but as his wife's condition worsens, he rushes to find Levine, leading to a search through the streets of Harlem.
