Best friends Nini and Jameelah, both 14 years old and living in the same Berlin housing complex, look forward to the Berlin summer and school holidays. Nini wants to meet her crush, Graffitisprayer Nico, while Jameelah longs for the romantic Lukas. Jameelah's family, from Iraq, is facing deportation unless their citizenship application is approved, but the girls try to focus on their carefree summer. As they try to lose their innocence, they become embroiled in a dramatic and violent situation involving their friend Amir, an Afghanistan veteran, who commits a crime. Nini eventually reports Amir to the police, leading to a rift between the two friends.
