The Manxman

A fisherman, Pete Quilliam, and a rising lawyer, Philip Christian, who have been close childhood friends, both fall in love with the same woman, Kate Cregeen. Pete proposes to Kate, with Philip agreeing to help him, but Kate eventually marries Philip instead. When Pete returns, it is discovered that he is alive and has been presumed dead, and Kate, now married to Philip, is still in love with Pete. Pete is overjoyed to be reunited with Kate, but their happiness is short-lived as Kate reveals she is pregnant and cannot reconcile her love for Philip with her feelings for Pete, leading to a tragic conclusion.
