The Education of Little Tree

The Education of Little Tree tells the story of an 8-year-old Cherokee boy, Little Tree, who is left an orphan after his mother's death and learns the wisdom of the Cherokee way of life from his Indian grandma and grandpa, Nonno (James Cromwell) and Nonna (Tantoo Cardinal). As he navigates his newfound heritage, Little Tree learns a trade passed down through his grandfather's Scottish heritage, whiskey making, and faces conflict with professional still thieves. The film follows Little Tree's journey as he is removed from his home by the government and placed in a Native American boarding school, but is eventually rescued by his grandfather and learns more of the Cherokee way under the guidance of his grandfather's friend, Willow John (Graham Greene).
