Judex

Judex is an arch, playful tribute to the serials of the influential silent filmmaker Louis Feuillade, about an adventurer named Judex whose revenge against the corrupt banker Favraux unleashes a complicated series of schemes. Banker Favraux receives a threatening note from Judex, demanding he return swindled money to the victims, and Favraux hires private detective Cocantin to keep an eye on his daughter, Jacqueline, who has a small daughter, Alice, whose governess, Diana Monti, is actually a cat burglar and cutthroat. With the help of his assistants, Judex watches over Jacqueline, keeping a close watch on her at her engagement party, where a mysterious guest, wearing a bird's head, entertains the attendees with magic tricks. Judex eventually battles Diana's accomplices, scales a building to confront her, and ultimately defeats her in a fight.
