Captain Newman, M.D.

In 1944, Captain Josiah J. Newman is the doctor in charge of Ward 7, a neuropsychiatric ward at an Army Air Corps hospital in Arizona. The hospital is under-resourced and Newman scrounges what he needs with the help of his inventive staff, including Corporal Jake Leibowitz. As they navigate the challenges of treating shell-shocked, schizophrenic, and catatonic patients, Newman must also contend with bureaucratic obstacles and confront his own limitations in understanding the true nature of war trauma.
