A King in New York

Deposed King Igor Shahdov (Charlie Chaplin) arrives in New York City after being stolen from by his prime minister, seeking shelter and ideas for using atomic power to create a utopia. At a televised dinner party, Shahdov reveals his theatrical background and is approached for TV commercials, which he reluctantly accepts. He meets Rupert Macabee (Michael Chaplin), a young historian who becomes embroiled in an anticommunist "scare," and must navigate the complexities of American politics and society, all while facing accusations of being a communist.
