Oedipus Rex

The film "Oedipus Rex" (1967) stars Franco Citti as Oedipus and Silvana Mangano as Jocasta, Queen of Thebes. In pre-war Italy, a young couple have a baby boy who is taken to the desert to be killed, but he is rescued and raised by King Polybus and Queen Merope of Corinth. As Oedipus grows up, an oracle foretells his destiny: to kill his father and marry his mother. The film follows Oedipus' journey as he flees Corinth, gets into a fight, kills a man, and ultimately discovers the truth about his past, leading to tragic consequences.
