In the midst of a traveling French circus, a beautiful and conniving trapeze artist named Cleopatra seduces a carnival sideshow dwarf named Hans after learning of his large inheritance, much to the chagrin of his fiancée Frieda. As their twisted romance unfolds, other romances flourish among the sideshow performers, but ultimately, Hans falls victim to Cleopatra's deceit and poison, leading to a thrilling climax where he confronts her with the help of his friends in a storm-tossed carnival wagon.
